#talcorset: South Korean women are fighting intense beauty pressure
05.02.19 / In South Korea, hundreds of young women are fighting social stereotypes depicting beauty with the hashtag #talcorset, or take off the corset.
The growing movement was started by Park I Seul, an aspiring fashion model who realised she couldn’t meet South Korea’s imposing beauty standards and began calling herself a “natural size model.”
A woman weighing over 50 kilograms (110 pounds) is considered by many in South Korea to be chubby, regardless of how tall she is.
