06.11.19 / After a historic deal today, Australia now joins New Zealand and Norway in placing men and women football players on the same pay scale.
Under the deal, both the Matildas (the women’s team) and the Socceroos (the men’s team) will receive identical training conditions and the same cut of commercial revenue, and players will be valued equally.
But the men are likely to keep earning more because their prize money tends to be higher.
