UN urges Chile to drop the criminal case against feminist group behind “A Rapist In Your Path”
Feminist collective Las Tesis, whose anti-abuse song and dance routine “A Rapist In Your Path” inspired performances around the world, is being sued by Chile’s national police over their new song “1312”.
Titled after the acronym ACAB – or All Cops Are Bastards – the song was released with Russian activist group Pussy Riot in May and speaks out against police violence and repression. The police, however, allege that the song incites violence against them.
“We fear prosecution of Las Tesis could have a chilling effect on women in many other countries who are standing up for their human rights,” a group of UN experts said on Monday, urging Chilean police to drop the criminal case.
