Alessandra Galloni becomes the first woman to lead Reuters newsroom
Alessandra Galloni will be Reuters’ next editor-in-chief, the company announced on Monday, the first woman to hold the post in the news agency’s 170-year history.
Reuters is one of the world’s biggest news organisations, with 2,500 journalists in 200 locations. Galloni has been working at the news agency for more than eight years, covering business and political news. She currently holds the top position of global managing editor and speaks four languages.
Michael Friedenberg, the president of Reuters, said in a statement that Galloni had “a compelling vision for the future of news.”
