On this day in 1923, feminist Huda Sha’arawi founded the Egyptian Feminist Union to advocate for reforms in the Egyptian constitution and family law, aiming to secure equal rights for women. In 1925, she launched the fortnightly journal ‘L’Égyptienne’ to champion women’s rights and suffrage.
